I did this painting from photographs that I took on my trip to the beautiful village of Hallstatt in the Austrian Salzkammergut region. This is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the world and it's well deserved. It's also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I really wanted to capture the reflections of the tightly built boat houses and buildings of the village. It was quite challenging to make sense of all the shapes and so it ended in my usual impressionistic style.
Watercolour on 300 gm Fabriano Artistico paper. Size: 50 x 35 cm full paper including white border. Painted area measures: 45 x 30.5 cm. Year: 2021.
