Watercolour painting of La Corbiere lighthouse on the island of Jersey, Channel Islands. I painted this from an earlier sketch which has now sold and which I did on location of this scenic coast. The scenery changes with the tide constantly, at low tide the retreating sea revealing the causeway which was under water by the time I did the sketch, cutting off access to the lighthouse. Many people in the past unfortunately died after trying to cross over as the tide was coming in. The sea is quite fierce with strong currents as it fills this rocky area with only the highest rocks staying visible at high tide. The sun was already setting with the most beautiful glow on the sky.
