I photographed this shy and elusive creature on our safari in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia where I visited frequently between 2015 and 2017.. He was guarding his leftover food, a half-eaten impala in the undergrowth while trying to hide from our camera lenses. This picture portrays well the shy, solitary nature of this majestic animal that's often hard to spot in its habitat, especially in the dry season.
