My latest watercolour painting of the Roman Baths, the well-preserved thermal baths in the historic Bath town centre in Somerset, England. Quite a challenging subject but also rewarding in the end. I painted this in layers rather than my usual wet into wet style. The result is quite expressive. The reflections were quite subtle in the greenish water. Painted from a photo that I took during my last visit at the end of May. This was around midday when the buildings were quite well lit with some shadows on the right. I felt that it was just the right time.
Watercolour on high quality paper. Full paper size with white edge 15 x 22 inches. Painted area measures 13.5 x 20.5 inches.
