My latest painting of Bath city centre on a busy, rainy Sunday afternoon, featuring the famous Bath Abbey. A iconic scene of this very attractive town that draws a lot of tourists and it is one of my favourite English towns. I particularly like this street scene that mixes the new with the old, the historic and commercial centre. I used various random marks with the brush that gives the appearance of a crowd. I used the foreground figures to give perspective and scale to this quite narrow space. I paint this scene over and over again, each time slightly differently. I aim to capture the essence of the scene that has an instant impact on the viewer.
