This is the second version of the same scene which I painted some time ago and was the first painting I sold here on Etsy. This one is painted onto a smooth HP Fabriano paper which gives a different result as the colours blend and it requires me to work faster as the paint dries on it quicker. This is a view from a place called Tihany by Lake Balaton in Western Hungary. I think one of the best views of this vast lake, the biggest in Central Europe and a popular holiday destination for Hungarians as well as foreign visitors. The water of this lake always looks slightly different depending on the light hitting it. Under a cloudy sky the water appears a beautiful turquoise green which is caused by the algae in the water. I particularly liked how the shrubs and plants framed this view. I could play around with some textures to indicate the rich foliage of summer.
