The town of Berat is one of the most impressive I have visited in Albania. The view from the ruins of Berat Castle is just spectacular. This Byzantine church pictured here is part of the complex just on the side of the steep cliff from where you can see miles away along the path of the Osum river below in the valley. I quite liked the contrast of the red roof of the church and its position on the hillside against the lush greens. The view was the perfect composition already set to be painted.
