I painted this autumn landscape in an unusual way starting off with the orange foliage of the tree which is my main focus of the picture then working around it leaving out white of the paper. The dark green shadows on the surface of the lake create a strong contrast with the ground surrounding it which makes the composition more pleasing. Painted from a photo that I took during an autumn tour in the Lake District in England.
