12x16 in ~ Painting, Watercolor
A very vibrant watercolour painting of the leaves of Flaming sword or Vriesea splendens of the Bromeliaceae family. These succulent plants are native in the regions of South America such as Trinidad, Guianas and Venezuela. It has its name from the bright red flattened spike that grows from the middle of the foliage that grows in a rosette. I photographed this plant in Kew Gardens in London. I enhanced the colours to produce this botanical painting which ended up quite abstract.
Watercolour on paper. Size: 16 x 12 inches. Year completed: 2021. I use top quality, artist grade paints and acid - free watercolour paper to ensure my work is long-lasting.
