My latest painting from my bird series called Happy Landing. I worked from a reference photo which I took in Zambia during my African travels some years ago. I particularly liked this small stream of water left during the dry season with many birds crowded in the puddle looking for a last meal before the are dried out completely. These pelicans were just landing in the water dominating the scene. I left out the other birds as my main subjects here are the pelicans but in reality there were numerous other birds wading in the water catching fish.
