I painted this exact view before in the same style and here it is again. The previous one was gifted to a family member. This 12 x 16 inch watercolour painting is featuring St Stephen's Basilica in the city centre of Budapest. One of my favourite buildings in my home town which can be seen towering high in the skyline from various parts of the city. This magnificent building is named in honour of Stephen, the first King of Hungary, whose right hand is housed in the reliquary. The 3rd largest church building in Hungary at present with a height of 96 m. I painted from a photo that was taken during the winter so I turned this into a late autumn scene. I reduced the surrounding city buildings to basic shapes and colours in order to bring the viewer's attention to the main subject, the church tower.
