Watercolour painting of a sunlit ancient ruin in the Butrint National Park in Albania. A must-visit place in Southern Albania where I held painting holidays and is a favourite by participants. I particularly like the light and shadows of these architectural marvels and there are many to choose from in this relatively small area that was once a settlement by numerous cultures in the past. I used very warm, bright colours to capture that warm mediterranean feel that's always present in this part of Europe. This scene was the perfect setting to paint with all my favourite elements: architecture, nature, strong light.
