Watercolour painting of the winter landscape by the river Danube. Painted from a photo of this frozen scene in the warmth of my studio. I used soft washes for the water and sky, leaving out areas on the ground to indicate snow. The trees are the only elements in this painting that has a crispy appearance, so I used dry brush mainly with droplets of water to create texture on the trunks. They stand gracefully like giant statues in the winter landscape.
