Painted from photos and previous sketches done on location of this famous landmark, The Needles, on the beautiful Isle of Wight. Nature always seem to create the perfect image as in this case, the shimmering water surface contrasts the rock formations with a strong shadow cast on them on this sunny day. I added the moving boat to liven up the scene. The sea turned out quite abstract looking with the use of the dry brush technique which I often use to indicate shimmer and the edge of the surf.
