This ancient woodland is part of Hampstead Heath in my neighbourhood in London, England. It's always a pleasure to take a walk as the landscape changes it's appearance every season. Autumn is particularly spectacular as the trees display their vibrant colours of oranges, pinks and magentas such as the maples, other types reveal their decades old trunks after loosing their foliage. This is one version of the same scene. The other can also be found in my shop. In this one I added the two figures to indicate the scale of the old trees along the forest path. I was mainly inspired by the line of tall trees and their shadows on the foreground on that sunny day which created a perfect composition.
