15x22.1 in ~ Painting, Watercolor
This watercolour landscape of the beautiful Papagayo Beach on the island of Lanzarote was inspired by my travels to the Canary Islands where I spent some time to explore the landscape. I was fascinated by the contrasting colours of the landscape, the blues of the ocean against the rusty colours of the rocky desert-like land. I could clearly see what attracted the Cesar Manrique, the famous Spanish artist, to this island that looks challenging at times. To me the isolated islands of the Canaries mean a way of escaping the bustling city of London where I reside and reconnecting with nature.
Painted onto Arches 300 gsm watercolour paper with a NOT (slightly textured) surface.
